Understand AI credits
Review your shared workspace balance, see where credits were used, and keep AI usage predictable.
Updated
AI credits measure AI-powered work in your Protodesk workspace. Teammates share the workspace balance; ordinary support work such as reading conversations, writing manual replies, and using settings does not consume AI credits.
View your balance and usage
Open AI → Usage to see:
- the workspace's available balance;
- monthly, purchased, and promotional credit balances when applicable;
- usage by AI action and by day; and
- recent credit transactions.
The usage screen is the source of truth for current costs. Protodesk shows the applicable credit estimate in the product before metered actions where possible, because costs can change as AI workflows evolve.
What happens when credits run out
Metered AI actions pause until the workspace receives more credits. Threads and manual support workflows continue to work, so teammates can still read, reply, assign, and resolve conversations without AI.
If your workspace supports purchases, select Buy credits from the Usage page. Billing access may be limited to workspace admins.
Keep usage predictable
- Review AI → Usage regularly.
- Test Knowledge before generating repeated answers.
- Use the smallest AI action that completes the task.
- Review active automations and their credit budgets.
- Investigate unexpected spikes by action and date before changing a workflow.
Do not rely on an old plan table or a copied per-action price. Use the live Usage and Billing screens for the current allocation, balance, and purchase options for your workspace.
