Organize Help Center articles with collections
Create focused collections, move articles into the right section, and keep public navigation easy to scan.
Updated
Collections group related articles on the public Help Center and help customers scan for the right topic. Use them for stable product areas or customer goals, not for every individual feature.
Create a collection
- Open Help Center.
- In the left collection rail, select the add control beside Collections.
- Enter a short, recognizable name.
- Add a one-sentence description that explains what customers will find.
- Save the collection.
Good collection names include Getting started, Email, and Workspace management. Avoid internal team names unless customers use the same vocabulary.
Move articles into a collection
Open an article, choose its Collection, and save your changes. From the article list, you can also select multiple articles and move them together when reorganizing a larger set.
Use Uncategorized as a temporary review queue, not a permanent public structure. Before publishing, place each article in the most relevant collection.
Edit a collection
Use the edit control beside a collection in the left rail to update its name or description. Changing a collection does not rewrite its articles.
When renaming, prefer customer language and keep the scope recognizable. A collection with many unrelated articles should usually be split; several collections with one article each should usually be combined.
Design a clear structure
- Put the most common starting point first.
- Keep names short enough to scan in navigation.
- Group by customer goal rather than your internal ownership chart.
- Avoid duplicate articles across collections; link to the canonical answer instead.
- Review empty, uncategorized, and very large collections regularly.
